The Jerusalem Cactus is generally sold as an Opuntia type, closely related to the Prickly Pear Cactus. Opuntia species are known for their flat, paddle-shaped stems, drought tolerance, and colourful flowers and fruits.
- Appearance: Features broad, flattened green pads with small spines or glochids. Mature plants may produce yellow, orange, red, or pink flowers followed by fleshy fruits.
- Indoor/Outdoor Use: Best suited as an outdoor succulent plant in warm, sunny locations, rock gardens, borders, and drought-tolerant landscapes.
- Care: Prefers full sun, very well-draining soil, and infrequent watering. Allow the soil to dry thoroughly between waterings and avoid waterlogging.
