Paddle Plant

The Kalanchoe thyrsiflora, commonly known as Paddle Plant, Flapjack Plant, or Red Pancake, is a striking succulent known for its broad, rounded leaves arranged in a compact rosette. The leaves often develop attractive red or pink margins when grown in strong light. Kew recognizes Kalanchoe thyrsiflora as an accepted succulent species native to southern Africa.

• Appearance: Features thick, fleshy, rounded blue-green to grey-green leaves, often with pink or reddish edges. Mature plants may produce a tall central flower stalk.
• Indoor/Outdoor Use: Suitable for both indoor and outdoor growing in bright, warm conditions. It works well in containers, patios, rock gardens, and succulent displays.
• Care: Prefers bright light to full sun, very well-draining soil, and infrequent watering. Allow the soil to dry between waterings and avoid waterlogging.
• Benefits: Drought-tolerant, compact, low-maintenance, and excellent for adding bold shape and colour to succulent arrangements.
