The Aloe maculata, commonly known as Guinea Fowl Aloe or Soap Aloe, is a hardy ornamental succulent known for its spotted leaves and colourful flower clusters. Its compact rosette form and strong drought tolerance make it well suited to dry gardens, rockeries, containers, and landscape planting.
- Appearance: Forms rosettes of thick, fleshy green leaves marked with distinctive pale white spots and toothed edges. Mature plants produce tall flower stalks with clusters of orange, red, or yellow tubular flowers.
- Indoor/Outdoor Use: Best suited as an outdoor succulent, especially in sunny gardens, rock gardens, borders, and containers. It can also be kept indoors in a very bright location.
- Care: Prefers full sun to bright light, well-draining soil, and infrequent watering. Allow the soil to dry between waterings and avoid waterlogged conditions.
- Benefits: Drought-tolerant, low-maintenance, decorative, and attractive when in flower. Its patterned foliage also gives year-round visual interest.
