Dragon Fruit

The Dragon Fruit (Selenicereus undatus, formerly Hylocereus undatus), also known as Pitaya, is a climbing tropical cactus known for its long, fleshy stems and brightly coloured edible fruits. Its striking growth habit and unusual fruits make it both an attractive ornamental plant and a productive fruit crop.

• Appearance: Features long, green, segmented cactus stems that climb or cascade over supports. It produces large white flowers followed by bright pink to red fruits with distinctive green scales.
• Indoor/Outdoor Use: Best suited as an outdoor plant in warm, sunny areas. It grows well on posts, trellises, fences, or other strong supports.
• Care: Prefers full sun to bright light, well-draining soil, and moderate watering. Allow the soil to dry slightly between waterings and provide support as the plant grows.
• Benefits: Produces attractive edible fruit, is relatively drought-tolerant once established, and adds a unique tropical and architectural look to gardens and farms.
