African Milkweed Cactus

The Euphorbia trigona, commonly known as African Milkweed, African Milk Tree, Cathedral Cactus, or Candelabra Cactus, is an upright succulent known for its distinctive triangular stems and architectural growth. Although it looks like a cactus, it belongs to the Euphorbia family.

• Appearance: Features thick, three-angled green stems with raised ridges, small spines, and short-lived leaves growing along the stem edges. Mature plants develop a tall, branching, candelabra-like form.
• Indoor/Outdoor Use: Suitable for both indoor and outdoor growing in warm conditions. It works well in containers, entrances, patios, succulent gardens, and as an architectural feature plant.
• Care: Prefers bright light to partial sun, sharply well-draining soil, and moderate to infrequent watering. Allow the soil to dry between waterings and avoid prolonged wet conditions.
• Benefits: Drought-tolerant, visually striking, relatively easy to maintain, and excellent for adding height and strong structure to succulent displays and landscaped spaces.
• Safety: Produces a milky latex sap that can irritate the skin and eyes, so it should be handled carefully.
