Sycamore Fig (Mugumo Tree)

The Ficus sycomorus, commonly known as Sycamore Fig or Sycomore Fig, is a large African fig tree valued for its broad spreading crown, dense foliage, shade, and distinctive fig fruits. It is native across much of Africa, including Kenya, and grows naturally in seasonally dry tropical regions.

• Appearance: Develops a short, sturdy trunk with widely spreading main branches and a broad canopy. Mature trees can reach around 20 metres or more and produce clusters of fig fruits along the branches.
• Indoor/Outdoor Use: Best suited as an outdoor landscape tree with plenty of space for its mature canopy and root system.
• Care: Prefers warm conditions, good sunlight, and sufficient space to develop into a large shade tree.
• Benefits: Excellent for providing shade, creating a strong landscape focal point, and adding the characteristic appearance of a mature African fig tree.
