Cashew Plant

The Cashew Plant (Anacardium occidentale) is a tropical evergreen tree best known for producing cashew nuts and the colourful cashew apple. It is also valued as a hardy shade and landscape tree, especially in warm tropical regions.

• Appearance: Develops a broad, spreading canopy with thick green leaves and small pinkish to reddish flowers. The fruit consists of a fleshy yellow, orange, or red cashew apple with the kidney-shaped cashew nut attached beneath it.
• Indoor/Outdoor Use: Best suited as an outdoor landscape and fruit tree. It requires plenty of space and is ideal for gardens, farms, large compounds, and open landscaped areas.
• Care: Prefers full sun, warm temperatures, and well-draining soil. It is relatively drought-tolerant once established but benefits from regular watering while young.
• Benefits: Produces edible cashew nuts and cashew apples, provides shade, and adds tropical character to large gardens and landscapes.
