Angel Wing Cactus

The Opuntia microdasys, commonly known as Angel Wing Cactus, Bunny Ears Cactus, or Polka Dot Cactus, is a compact ornamental cactus known for its flat, oval pads covered with small clusters of fine glochids. Its neat, branching form makes it especially attractive in pots, rock gardens, and succulent displays.

• Appearance: Features flat, rounded green pads arranged in pairs or clusters, often resembling bunny ears or wings. The pads are covered with tiny yellow, white, or reddish glochids rather than large spines.
• Indoor/Outdoor Use: Suitable for both indoor and outdoor growing in bright, warm conditions. It works well in pots, patios, rock gardens, and cactus collections.
• Care: Prefers bright light to full sun, very well-draining soil, and infrequent watering. Allow the soil to dry completely between waterings and avoid waterlogging.
• Benefits: Drought-tolerant, compact, low-maintenance, and highly decorative with a distinctive sculptural form.
• Safety: The tiny glochids detach easily and can irritate the skin, so handle the plant carefully and keep it away from children and pets.
